SIIT Tennis Team
Submitted by Steve on Mon, 26/02/2007 - 11:02pmMy two forms of exercise so far in Thailand are running and tennis. Since arriving in September 2006, I have been running about the Rangsit campus a few times a week, on a semi-regular basis (at least on weekends). And since the new year I've been playing tennis with a gang from SIIT.
Top 3 Things I Miss About Australia: 3 – Cricket
Submitted by Steve on Sun, 04/02/2007 - 2:56pmAlthough the Ashes were not as competitive as one would have liked, and until the last week, nor have the one-day internationals been, I do miss going to the cricket and watching it on TV.
Sure, I can follow the scores on BaggyGreen (and I do – I’m actually following the Australia/NZ game as I’m writing this – NZ just made 290), but it doesn’t compare to seeing the action on TV, or actually being at the Adelaide Oval.
Sport in Thailand ... Sepaktakraw
Submitted by Steve on Tue, 12/12/2006 - 9:32pmBeing the ignorant Westerner I am, before moving to Thailand I didn't really strongly link the country with any sports. I guess I had heard of Paradaron Srichapan, the Thai tennis player who made it to the world top ten, but other than that who is there? And what about team sports? The Olympics? Of course you can find various sports played in Thailand (there's even a Aussie Rules footy team, the Thailand Tigers, and national cricket competition), but what are the main sports in Thailand?

Hashing in Bangkok
Submitted by Steve on Sat, 04/11/2006 - 8:49pmYesterday was my virgin run with the Bangkok Hash House Harriers. For those of you who are unaware of the Hash House Harriers, or Hashing, in short it’s a group of people who get together for a run and some socialising on a regular basis. There are groups all around the world, and in Bangkok, the BH3 run every Saturday – men only. There are a few other Bangkok groups running other days, for families, women only etc.
After getting in touch with the organisers during the week, the day started with getting a taxi to the run site in Bang Yai. Tumbon Bang Yai (ตําบลบางใหญ่) is about 16km (as the bird flies) north-west of central Bangkok, across the Chao Phra
